Labor Day Fun

Labor Day just so happened to be our 9 year anniversary. Our trip to St. George last month was an early celebration so we decided to spend the day as a family. We got up early for my Uncle Lew's big BLOW OUT breakfast he does every Labor Day for the Cottonwood Community. They always have a great turnout (2000+ people show up for it) and its always great food. After breakfast the kids got to take a little tour of a fire engine and ambulance, they thought that was pretty cool.

We ran a few quick errands and had lunch at SmashBurger, which we'd heard good reviews of. I wasn't entirely impressed. Then we headed home so Avery could nap. We all enjoyed some quiet time at home. I love that about holidays!

After Avery's nap we headed up Little Cottonwood Canyon for a hike up to Secret Lake. I was surprised at how much cooler it was up there and my kids complained about being cold...should've brought sweatshirts! Once we got going they were fine and enjoyed being up in the mountains. It is such a beautiful hike. We were at a pretty slow pace with Avery walking and stopping every 5 feet to pick up a rock or throw some dirt, but we were in no hurry so I enjoyed taking our time. Once we got to the lake Avery immediately started yelling "swimming, swimming!" It was pretty funny. The kids had a great time exploring and throwing rocks in the water. It was so peaceful up there. I took LOTS and LOTS of pictures only to find out when we got home that my camera had seen its last days and none of them turned out. I was REALLY disappointed, but luckily Tucker had taken a few with his phone!

It was a perfect way to celebrate NINE years of marriage to my best friend.
